Bio

Selene Kaye is a Director at the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û and the Director of the National Political Advocacy Department’s Liberty Division. In this role she oversees the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û’s nationwide political advocacy work to advance reproductive freedom, LGBTQ equality, gender justice, disability rights, and religious liberty. She leads an interdisciplinary team of campaign strategists, policy experts, and lobbyists who work in close coordination with affiliates to plan and execute legislative, electoral, and administrative campaigns at the local, state, and federal levels utilizing the full range of political advocacy tools.

Selene joined the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û in 2007 as the Women’s Rights Project’s first advocacy coordinator. She managed the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û’s National Marriage and LGBTQ Equality Campaigns from 2010 to 2018, and subsequently served as the Issue Campaigns Director, managing a team of campaigners working to advance LGBT equality, reproductive freedom, death penalty repeal, policing reform, and voting rights in the states. Prior to joining the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û, Selene worked at Safe Horizon, a social service agency that provides support, prevents violence, and promotes justice for survivors of domestic violence, their families, and communities. Selene holds a B.A. from Harvard University and a M.S.W. from Columbia University, and trained as an organizer with Green Corps, Field School for Environmental Organizing.
