McConnell v. FEC
What's at Stake
Reviewing campaign finance law. DECIDED
Summary
This case challenges the constitutionality of key provisions of the 2002 McCain-Feingold campaign finance law. Among other things, the law would prohibit the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û from broadcasting a radio or TV ad criticizing the civil liberties position of either the President or his opponent in the 60 days preceding next year's election. The ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û argues in its brief that this restriction on so-called issue ads violates the First Amendment.
