Samantha and Brian Williams of Nashville, TN and their 15-year-old transgender daughter are challenging a Tennessee law banning gender-affirming care for transgender people under 18. Tennessee is home to over 3,000 transgender adolescents and the health care banned by this law is supported by the entire mainstream of the medical community.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court, alleges that House Bill 1570 is a violation of the U.S. Constitution.

Toomey v. State of Arizona
On January 23, 2019, the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û, and the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û of Arizona filed a class action lawsuit against the State of Arizona and the Arizona Board of Regents for denying medically necessary, gender-affirming health care to transgender people employed by the state. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Dr. Russell B. Toomey, an associate professor of family studies and human development at the University of Arizona, and all other transgender individuals employed by the Arizona Board of Regents or enrolled in the State health plan, including dependents.
