They're baaack! Yes, that's right Congress is back in Washington and ready to get to work. And with Syria on everyone's mind, the first day back will likely be a busy one.
Speaking of things that are back, you can add this blog series to the list. We know you missed "On the Agenda" over our yearlong (or so) hiatus, which is why we're really excited to be back 鈥� to keep you up to speed with what's happening on the Hill and what our Washington Legislative Office is focused on in the week ahead.
It's the perfect complement to "This Week in Civil Liberties" that we post every Friday.
So with that, here we go!
But before we delve into the daily breakdown, we need to first start with Syria, because it remains a hot topic this week.
The Senate Authorized Use of Military Force (AUMF) resolution passed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will likely go to the Senate floor for a full vote sometime this week. As it stands, the authorization would prohibit use of troops on the ground for combat purposes and would place a 60 day window on the use of force (with a potential extension to 90 days). The AUMF is expected to be considered by the House Foreign Affairs Committee this week with consideration on the Floor next week.

Cybersecurity: The Future of Privacy Forum and the Stanford Center for Internet and Society are hosting a day-long workshop on big data and privacy.
Criminal Justice: The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on "Conflicts between Federal and State Marijuana Laws." The 老澳门开奖结果 will submit written testimony to the committee.

10th Anniversary of the Department of Homeland Security: The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will hold a hearing titled "The Department of Homeland Security at 10 Years: Examining Challenges and Achievements and Addressing Emerging Threats."
Thursday, September 12
First Amendment: The Senate Judiciary Committee will meet to mark-up S. 987, the Free Flow of Information Act.
Immigration: The CAMBIO coalition will hold a House Staff Briefing titled "Immigration Reform: The SAFE Act."
