In that decision, the Court ruled that women who receive lower pay than men for the same job cannot seek relief under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act unless they sue within 180 days of the initial discriminatory salary decision, even if she did not know at the time what other employees were earning. The Fair Pay Act would repudiate this ruling and provide pay discrimination relief under , the , the , and the .
