Newly Unredacted Torture Documents Reveal Deaths, Abuse

Back in 2006, we received the heavily redacted Church Report, an investigative report of Department of Defense interrogation operations by Vice Admiral Albert T. Church. Well, in addition to receiving thousands of pages of Criminal Investigation Division reports on detainee deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan, we've just received some less-redacted pages from the Church Report—and this is what they were hiding:

The newly unredacted part reads:

The behavior alleged in the December 2002 Bagram death cases was clearly abusive, and clearly not in keeping with any approved interrogation policy or guidance. In both instances, the deaths followed interrogation sessions in which unauthorized techniques were allegedly employed, but in both cases, these sessions were followed by further alleged abusive behavior outside of the interrogation booth. In light of the uncertainty, the cases are considered for purposes of this report to be interrogation related.

If the redacted version tells of detainees dying after being subjected to unauthorized interrogation techniques and further abuse outside the interrogation booth, well, it makes you wonder what's in the right-hand column...
