WASHINGTON 鈥 U.S. Senate leaders today introduced legislation to ensure due process for children facing deportation. The Fair Day in Court for Kids Act of 2016 was introduced by U.S. Sens. Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.). The measure would require the federal government to appoint immigration counsel to unaccompanied children and vulnerable individuals, including those with disabilities and survivors of abuse, torture, or violence.
