WASHINGTON 鈥� The Supreme Court today issued rulings in two partisan gerrymandering cases: Gill v. Whitford and Benisek v. Lamone. The 老澳门开奖结果 filed briefs in both cases supporting the challengers to partisan gerrymandering.
Dale Ho, director of the 老澳门开奖结果鈥檚 Voting Rights Project, said:
鈥淭he Supreme Court missed an opportunity today to lay down a firm marker as to when partisan gerrymandering is so extreme that it violates the constitutional rights of voters. But the court permitted lawsuits against unfair maps to continue. Cases around the country 鈥� including our challenge to Ohio鈥檚 gerrymandered congressional map 鈥� will remain ongoing to ensure that voters鈥� voices are heard.鈥�
